We're getting married on the backwaters of Cochin - three celebrations, each with its own mood, dress code, colours. Many of you are new to Indian weddings, so here is what each day is, and what to wear. We can't wait to see you.

“Sunset in the Mediterranean”

Saturday 3rd of April, 17:00

The evening that opens a South Indian wedding: the groom is welcomed in procession, with music and lamps, followed by an Indian engagement ceremony with a ring exchange.

The Wedding Ceremony

“Traditional South Indian”

Sunday 4th of April, from 07:30

A traditional Tamil Brahmin ceremony. The start time is set by the muhurtham - the window the Hindu calendar marks as auspicious, calculated for this particular couple - which is why it begins at 7:30am. It runs a good while, and nobody expects you to sit still and silent through it: talk and take photographs.

Dress code

Bright, festive, traditional colour

No restricted palette for this one - the morning is meant to be bright. Think rich, saturated colour. Traditional Indian dress is warmly welcomed - sarees, lehengas, chudidars, kurtas, dhotis or veshtis - but any bright, festive colour works just as well.

The Reception

“Starry Night”

Sunday 4th of April, from 18:00

Dinner, drinks, speeches and dancing at the water’s edge. The one part of the weekend that needs no explaining.

Dress code

Formal - black tie, jewel tones

Tuxedos, suits, gowns, sarees and lehengas all work. Lean into deep, rich colour. If in doubt: the darker and more jewelled, the better.

Practical information before you come

Where to stay

Everything happens at the Ramada Resort by Wyndham Kochi, and you stay right there - no driving between events, nothing to get to.

Both nights, the 3rd and 4th of April, are on us.

Flying in

Fly to Cochin International Airport (COK). It is well connected through Gulf hubs (Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi) and through Indian cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. From Europe, one stop is normal.

Allow roughly an hour to an hour and a half by road from the airport, depending on traffic. Let us know your travel dates once you have booked and we will help coordinate transfers.

Visas

Most nationalities, including Spanish and other EU passport holders, can apply for an India e-Visa online before travelling. Apply through the official government portal only - there are many lookalike sites that charge more.

We recommend the 30-day e-Visa - it comfortably covers the trip with room either side.

Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates.

Apply a few weeks ahead, not a few days.

Money & connectivity

The currency is the Indian rupee (INR). Cards are widely accepted at the resort; carry some cash for smaller places. A local eSIM is the easiest way to stay online.

FAQ

Can I bring a plus one?

Yes, absolutely - just make sure to add them on the RSVP form.

When should I book flights?

As soon as you are sure. April is high season for travel to Kerala and fares climb.

How many days should I stay?

Arrive on the 3rd at the latest, leave on the 5th at the earliest. Many people are adding a few days either side - Kerala is worth it, and we will suggest itineraries. Worth knowing for planning: Easter falls the week before (28 March), so you may already have some days off around then.

Do I need to reserve a room?

No - we are taking care of the rooms. Both nights at the Ramada, the 3rd and 4th of April, are on us; the only thing you need to book is your flight.

For the women: what should I wear?

Whatever feels right to you - Indian or Western are equally welcome, and the palette on each celebration is a guide, not a rule. If you would like to wear something Indian: a saree is a length of fabric draped and wrapped over a fitted blouse, a lehenga pairs a skirt with a top and scarf, and a chudidar is fitted trousers worn with a tunic top. They all look more elaborate than they feel - genuinely easy to move and dance in - and Kochi has plenty of shops to find something once you land. One firm ask: avoid all-black and all-white on the wedding morning, as both carry associations with mourning in the tradition.

For the men: what should I wear?

Whatever feels right to you - Indian or Western are equally welcome. If you would like to wear something Indian: a kurta is a long tunic-style shirt, and a dhoti (called a veshti in Tamil) wraps and ties at the waist, and both look wonderful with a light shawl or jacket over the top. How will the weather be?

April in Kerala is hot and humid - think low 30s °C. Natural fabrics will save you, and pack sun cream.

What about gifts?

We do not expect any gifts. If you would still like to contribute something, we will share an IBAN closer to the date.

What is the deadline to RSVP?

Please reply by 15 October 2026. Earlier is genuinely helpful.
